As you no doubt know basis is complicated and it's only getting more complicated with each passing year.

You really need to be an accountant to understand how to calculate basis correctly.

That's why BasisCalc was created by an accountant with over 30 years of practical industry experience. Linda has literally taught the class. Let's learn a little more about her.

Linda Coleman is an Enrolled Agent (EA) with a small business tax & accounting practice in Los Gatos. Linda assists both business owners and individuals with a variety of tax and financial matters including payroll and accounting services and tax planning and preparation.

Just what is an EA? An EA is a tax expert. An enrolled agent is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can practice before. Enrolled agents demonstrate special competence in tax matters by taking a written examination and must clear a background check and earn 16 hours annually of qualifying continuing education credit in the areas of accounting, tax preparation and ethics.

In addition to her private practice, Linda is also a member of the IRS Stakeholder Liaison Leveraged Small Business Tax Workshop Instructor Cadre. As part of this program, Linda teaches payroll seminars with representatives of the EDD in San Jose and Capitola and a variety of seminars on tax topics including Business Entity Selection and S Corporation Tax Topics at the San Jose SBA Entrepreneur Center and other IRS events. Linda blogs at BizTaxTalk.com where she posts information on small business tax issues and answers tax questions in the forums.

Linda is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents, California Society of Enrolled Agents and is an Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Linda received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Oregon in Eugene and resides with her husband and two dogs in Los Gatos.
